I held a practice session on Monday morning, Christmas Eve, for Jason C. and Ethan E. In addition, Mitch and Mayra B. attended the class. They are the son-in-law and daughter, respectively, of Joe & Anita O. from my church. Mitch is a blue belt who trains in Texas; he recently convinced his wife to join him on the mats.
I went over three De la Riva sweeps and two methods of escaping from the back before rolling with Mitch. Luckily, I kept him at bay and managed to avoid getting beaten in front of my students.
