SATURDAY, 15 JUNE 2019

Today's class had me, Jason, Ryan, Steve, and a new addition with Yahamoni. New recruits are rare since I do not advertise, but he was welcomed with open arms (to choke perhaps, but I digress).

We covered the basic seven chokes from the back, the cross-collar from full mount, and a modified Americana from full mount. Everyone was able to roll with each other.

Tonight was a judo/wrestling class consisting of me, Jason, and Tony. We wore our judo ranks, worked on kumikata and uchikomi, and drilled double leg takedowns.

SATURDAY, 01 JUNE 2019

Today's class had me, Jason, Ryan, and Steve in attendance. I went over attacks and defenses from the back and taught a modified bow-and-arrow choke.

I got six, 6-minute rounds in. Jason had a very nice guard pass on me during our second round.

MEMORIAL DAY OPEN MAT

Despite inviting ten people to an open mat, only the truly dedicated whose belts begin with "B" attended today. Thanks to Jason, Ryan, and Tony for giving me eight, 7-minute rolls today.

On another note, it seems that promoting Ryan to brown belt has turned him nasty since he went for heel-hooks on me the entire roll (almost like I hurt him on Saturday or something). I even had to tap to one of them. Not that I'm keeping track or anything, but I think I will have to pay him back for that :)

SATURDAY, 25 MAY 2019

Today was just advanced belts (black and two brown belts).

We drilled four (well, 3 and-a-half since the fourth was a modification of one) sweeps from half-guard and reviewed guard passes (which we always seem to do).

The brown belts rolled first (6 minutes) and then I had two rounds against each of them. I injured Ryan slightly (knee to thigh, like in Muay Thai), but he walked out.

NEWEST WOLFPACK BROWN BELT

Congratulations to Ryan on his promotion!

SATURDAY, 11 MAY 2019

Today's class was me, Jason, John, and Ryan, so the "weakest link" was a 4-stripe purple belt.

We covered a knee-in-belly escape, modified that escape to permit prevention of a knee-slide pass, and reviewed a clock-choke variation.

We then had six, six-minute rounds (two rounds against each opponent, rotating).

SATURDAY, 20 APRIL 2019

Today's class consisted of me, Jason, John, and Steve.

I covered four half-guard sweeps and worked a few ideas for situations when the opponent attempts to crush from the top of half-guard.

I was able to roll with each student for seven minute rounds (two with Jason).

SATURDAY, 13 APRIL 2019

Today was for advanced ranks, with only purple, brown, and black belts in attendance.

We drilled several basic items: arm bar from guard; scissor sweep; cross-collar choke from guard; Americana finishes; kimura finishes; reverse arm bars.

We then shared items that we have been working on individually in order to seek feedback. I personally learned how to do the baseball bat choke from back control and then modified that to catch someone with it from side-control.

I rolled with Jason (twice), John, and Ryan in seven-minute rounds.

SATURDAY, 09 MARCH 2019

Basics, basics, basics. Jason, John, Ryan, and Tony attended. Today we worked on two innovative side control escapes, two basic arm bars from guard, and o-soto-gari for me & John (not sure what Jason & Tony worked on from standing). I rolled with everyone (6 minute rounds) and had a good session.

SATURDAY, 09 FEBRUARY 2019

Today's class consisted of me, Jason, Ryan, and Steve.

After a flow roll to warm up, we covered the intricacies of the reverse arm bar from knee-on-belly and took those same principles and applied them to the same technique from guard.

With Jason's help from an earlier session, l discovered another way of setting the bread cutter choke that eliminates an effective defense.

SATURDAY, 02 FEBRUARY 2019

Jason, John, Steve, and I worked on guard passes and elbow drags. Various types of elbow drags, both standing and on the ground, were covered.

FRIDAY, 01 FEBRUARY 2019

Jason, Tony, and I drilled a series of guard passes. We started from standing with the X-pass and leg drag and moved to my smash pass series.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

On New Year's Day, we had a small open mat with only three attendees (me, Jason, and Jack). We had five minute round-robins where one person was in for two rounds and rested one round. We got in a two hour workout and started the year off right.
